Resurrection
Parish

Discover the good you were created for

About the Parish

You count. You matter. You especially matter to God. He created you out of love for a special purpose. If you’re looking for the “more” that God has in store for you, we welcome you to Resurrection.

As reflected in our name, the character of our faith community springs from the gift of new life given by Jesus Christ. We gather from across Tampa Bay to worship, study, pray, and serve the larger community.

Consider this your invitation to take a closer look at Resurrection and explore how you count.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Matthew 11:28

Anglican

ANGLICAN

The Anglican Christian tradition began in the British Isles in the 300s. Separated from the mainland of Europe, the unique cultural characteristics of the region influenced the way Christian faith was practiced. That practice was referred to as “the way of the Angles” (the people of England), or “Anglican.”

ORATORY

Oratory comes from the Latin orare, meaning "to pray." Originally, an oratory was a physical place to pray. Based on the model of religious life established by Philip Neri of Rome in 1533, oratories became centers of learning, worship, and especially practical and spiritual service to the poor. Today, oratories are communities of Christians who gather for prayer and service, entering into the larger society for the purpose of building relationships with, listening to, and cultivating spiritual awakening among people outside the church.

PARISH

In many Christian traditions, a parish is the district within which clergy have responsibility for the spiritual care of the people who live there. The term came into use in the late 13th century in England. In modern times parish refers to the community of people who identify with a particular church or oratory. At Resurrection, we think of Tampa Bay as the community of people whose souls God has called us to love and care for.
