Mothers’ Union

Mothers’ Union, founded in 1876, is a movement of over four million Christians in 84 countries. Members put their faith into action by acts great and small, working as volunteers in local communities, giving those in need a helping hand, and helping communities of all kinds transform their lives in sustainable ways. Resurrection’s chapter of Mothers’ Union, one of only 15 in the United States, focuses our congregation’s attention on and provides relief to refugees and those caught up in sex trafficking.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is a peer-to-peer expression of Christ’s care that is used in 160 denominations worldwide. It’s named after Saint Stephen, one of the first leaders appointed by the Apostles in the early church to minister to the community of believers.

Stephen Ministers are committed Christians who:

  • Express God’s care to others who have a particular need, offering Christian support and care under the guidance of Stephen Ministry Leaders
  • Are committed to preserving the confidential nature of the caring relationships they have
  • Receive continuing education and skill building throughout their years of service

Stephen Ministry equips lay people to provide one-to-one Christian care to people and their families, including but not limited to those who are:

  • Hospitalized or terminally ill
  • Grieving a death or serious loss
  • Disabled, elderly, homebound, or institutionalized
  • Prisoners and ex-offenders
  • Separated or divorced
  • In spiritual crisis
